Botulinum Toxin type A* (Botox)
Considered one of the most efficient substances in tackling wrinkles, Botulinum Toxin Type A is now seen also as a method of prevention. There are many people who make faces, shrug their foreheads and even laugh a lot, regardless of their age. The result of all this facial mimicry is the presence of “undesirable wrinkles” that make the face look much older.
Recommended: For the forehead, the side of the eyes, the famous “chicken feet”, and the space between the eyebrows (cross expression). Also recommended for hyperhydrosis to control the excessive sweating from armpits, hands and feet.
How it works: The toxin relaxes the muscles and limits facial contractions, thereby inhibiting the formation of new facial marks. Its effect is temporary, lasting an average of 6 months.
Sessions: Two sessions a year are enough for a natural and efficient result.
On the Day: After the anaesthetic is applied, the product is then injected with a thin needle, in the regions as previously agreed. The patient shall feel a slight stinging sensation.
Important: Do not massage or press the region, and neither should you lie down or lower your head during the first 4 hours after the application, to prevent the spread of the substance, which would jeopardise the results. Physical activities are authorised only after 24 hours.
Result: The effects take between 5 and 10 days to appear. Do not use medication that speeds up the organism, such as weight-loss medication, as this could reduce the action time of the toxin.
Tip: Carry out the procedure at a time which is not very late, to avoid sleep and also so that the patient can wait for the 4-hour period to elapse before he or she goes to bed.
